Belcrest Apts. Tenant Online Petition for Repairs & Fair Heating

Belcrest Apts. Tenant Online Petition for Repairs & Fair Heating
The Issue
We, the unified tenants of Belcrest Apartments, are calling on our property management/landlord to take immediate action to address ongoing issues that are affecting our quality of life.
For far too long, we have endured unfulfilled promises from New Park Management regarding unreliable heating, inconsistent repairs & upgrades throughout our building (including but not limited to apartments, hallways, elevators, and parking garages), and rising electric bills caused by having to compensate for inadequate temperature control. During the winter, we are often forced to open windows, use fans, or even turn on air conditioning to regulate extreme temperatures—a situation that is not only unacceptable but also unhealthy and costly.
Despite years of repeated complaints since their acquisition of our building, these issues remain unresolved, leaving us in unsafe and uncomfortable living conditions. As paying tenants, we deserve basic, properly functional heating, timely repairs & upgrades, and property management that takes these concerns seriously.
In addition to the previously mentioned concerns, our building has gone all summer without having access to our pool, while New Park/Parkoff rented it to an outside entity, as they have been doing for years despite our wishes against it. Our tenants and their children suffered as they watched other people swim before their eyes with no explanation or apology as to why this was taking place. These amenitites are paid for with our rent, and we demand reimbursement for the lack of access to it throughout the 2025 summer season.
Amidst all of this, and increases in rent, we are also dealing with a rat infestation surrounding the property. They can be seen in broad daylight and nighttime running through the parking lot and the perimeter of the building, crawling through the vents, feasting on the mounds of garbage piled up near the indoor garage. It's disgusting, unsanitary, and we demand for it to be dealt with at once! Having days' worth of garbage piled up alongside the building is not only an eyesore that diminishes our quality of living here at Belcrest, but only adds to the rodent infestation problem we have been experiencing for months. A proper enclosure for the trash that seals the rats out, while keeping it out of eyesight is what's necessary, and we're demanding immediate action from management!
We are demanding the following immediate actions:
- Properly regulated heating that provides a consistent and livable temperature throughout the winter months.
- Timely and effective repairs and upgrades to ensure the building is well-maintained and safe.
- Transparent communication from management regarding maintenance timelines and solutions.
- Pool reimbursement for lack of access in 2025
- Proper trash disposal and enclosure
- Immediate resolution to the rat-infestation
Belcrest is our home, and we urge New Park Property Management to act immediately. If no action is taken, we will explore further steps, including filing complaints with city housing authorities and seeking legal remedies.
