Council agrees to re-instate timber options into the Deed of Agreement

We are delighted announce that your voices have been heard! The funding agreement for the restoration and repair of Cuttagee Bridge has been re-negotiated.  A two-lane concrete bridge at Cuttagee is no longer the ONLY option to be considered.
Negotiations between BVSC and the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitchison, have resulted in the re-inclusion of two additional bridge options: a single-lane hybrid and a two-lane hybrid. We are told these options respond to the hybrid character of the existing bridge. We are reassured by Ms Aitchison that, as well as safety needs, the heritage, environmental and social values of the bridge and its site remain key factors in formulating a design.
Thanks to Dr Michael Holland, our local member, and Minister Aitchison for recognising the importance of Cuttagee Bridge and its site to our local community, and to the many others who know and love this special place.
We appreciate BVSC’s preparedness to listen to the community and to retreat from their previous announcement by restoring other options for community consideration. We look forward to engaging constructively with the Council in the consultation process.
We will continue to work for the best possible outcome for Cuttagee and to ensure that respect for the site, heritage and timber are key elements in any design.
