Further action

Hello Supporters,
Sadly, Councillor O’Neil’s motion was amended at last week's Bega Valley Shire Council's meeting, which removed references to a single lane bridge, and the load limit.
Council is pushing the State Government to take on the road, and therefore the bridge. The options report has been delayed until October.
It is clear now that Council supports the road being a freight corridor rather than one for residents and tourists, despite the road and environmental damage, and safety concerns. The photo was taken on the Mogareeka bends - do we want this for the entire road?

Given the complexity of replacing the bridge, such as the impacts on Ecologically Endangered Communities, safety, ICOLL, climate change etc,
it would seem a lot more information is needed.
In my opinion, best to ensure the entire road is heritage listed, and the bridge is replaced with a single lane timber or composite structure.
