Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition.
Please stay engaged as we are still gathering information to share with the community and wanted to clarify Habitat for Humanity’s position as quoted in a recent email to a resident of Coles rd.
“Habitat for Humanity of Island County does not currently have a contract with the city, nor do we have any agreement with a Seattle investor regarding the development of the site. Habitat's interest is limited to the possibility of creating permanently affordable homeownership opportunities if the project ultimately proves feasible and receives the approvals required through the public review process”
“At this stage, the matter before the City Council is the proposed Land Use Agreement.”
Orin Kolaitis | Chief Executive Officer Habitat for Humanity of Island County
We will have more information coming soon.
Thank you again for your interest in transparency around this project, and we hope that this petition will continue to bring to light the truth about Coles rd, it’s history, and hopefully a way to move forward as a community to get the job done of increasing affordable housing in Langley, and on Whidbey Island as a whole, AND respecting the environment that we all are a part of, and rely on for our very life and for the lives of all.
