Thank you Rod Loesch for posting the response you got from the BCTF, signed Glen Hansman and dated November 17th. Reading it actually made me angry again. What is so difficult about saying - this material was not appropriate and we are pulling it from our webpage? In Glen's response is the defence that schools hold Remembrance Day ceremonies - wonderful, doesn't excuse these publications. "The poster was in no way meant to attack the military or to dishonour those that have served." I note the use of past tense which is why I suppose Glen is okay with the call on the second page of that poster to teachers to interfere with current military labour contracts. I suppose that is why it is okay to insinuate that the Canadian military commits war crimes on the poster "Reject Violence". "We are duty bound to teach critical thinking skills and weigh different perspectives" - which is not happening on these posters/documents and not happening in your response to these posters/documents. "This poster is not currently in circulation" - and yet it was promoted in a 2016 Seeds of Social Justice newsletter and revised only 11 months ago. It is insulting to be answered in this way. Thank you Rod for writing to the union - I hope that others will, though I suspect they will receive a suspiciously exact letter.
