Terminate Officer Nathaniel Brown - Baytown Police Department

Terminate Officer Nathaniel Brown - Baytown Police Department
The Issue
We petition to remove Officer Nathaniel Brown from all duties as a patrol officer.
We hope to reach The City of Baytown Mayor; Brandon Capetillo, Baytown Police chief; Keith Dougherty. and the investigator of internal affairs. The citizens you swore to protect are calling for action. this is a democracy after all.
Nathaniel Browns excessive force against Baytown Citizens has plagued the area since 2010 when Brown was hired by the Baytown Police Department. Since, He has made over 1,200 arrests some of witch, warranted. many of witch; over exaggerated, unfair, and brutal. the extensive list of damage Officer brown has caused could never be summarized. examples of the officers atrocities are below.
- 10:31 p.m. Jan. 24 2019 on James Bowie Drive at Cedars Bayou Road. officer brown is seen on video repeatedly sicking his police dog on Raphael White; even after Mr. White pleads with him to not let the dog attack him, allowing Brown to see his hands. Brown also felt it was appropriate to taze Mr.White in the neck. His injuries left him in the hospital for over two weeks! click here to see the KPRC local 2 article about the arrest of Mr. White
- In October 2018 Brown beat a handcuffed man after throwing him into a glass wall, who had attempted to break up a fight at a local bar.
- And most recently a video has gone viral, showing officer brown harassing, and beating two young men simply for observing and video recording a routine traffic stop at 2900 Market street. The first man taken down by Brown was Baytown native Skylar Gilmore. Officer justified his actions by saying Gilmore "was cussing in public." The officer is seen in the video using excessive force against Gilmore even going so far as to knee the 24 year old in the face while is hands were already on the ground. Brown then decides to place Baytown native Isiah Phillips under arrest for disorderly conduct as well. Gilmore was charged with disorderly conduct, and interference with a police investigation. (the interference charge has since been dropped by the D.A.) click here to see the Chron article about the arrest and video.
Baytownians are very familiar with Officer Brown. and its time for his reign to stop. the people of Baytown love this city, and deserve to be protected with confidence, and without fear of what may happen to them. The man is an institution of fear and rules with intimidation. He doesn't shy away from letting his victims know who they are dealing with, reassuring them that they are helpless.
-The people of Baytown do not deserve to worry which officer is responding to their call, We should be proud to observe constancy. We should know what to expect when we are dealing with the police, under the basic fundamental rights and understanding of all of our citizens. We should be confident our police know their limits, and respect the boundary of the law they were hired to withhold- and we are not confident.-
The people of Baytown should not have to fear for their lives in a time of great prejudice. The people of Baytown deserve assurance, and compassion. two things officer brown seems to be lacking, when its needed the most. As an officer, and a man you're trained to handle situations, not escalate them. The people of Baytown deserve to be treated as the people they are, American, and more than that. Texan. and we Texans don't stand for bulling. So on behalf of the people of my city, and yours. sign the petition, and lets put a stop to our own small stain of police brutality. One bad apple, spoils the whole bunch. -Ashton K.
