Dear all,
I just wanted to write to you to thank you for your support and give you a final update you on progress.
You will be aware of course that we were not able to save Spirit FM in its previous form, as the new owners had no interest in saving the station, preferring to focus on a national strategy.
Despite this, your support had a monumental impact on our quest, it made it clear of the support of local radio in our local area and inspired us to launch “V2 Radio”.
If you did not know V2 Radio has been broadcasting on DAB (Digital Radio) since the 18th January this year. V2 Radio covers a huge area from the edge of Portsmouth all the way to Hastings and as North as Crawley. Our new transmission area covers ~2 million listeners, meaning we can continue to provide local radio for Sussex wherever our listeners are, and on the entire commute to work.
V2 Radio, will continue with all of the good work that Spirit FM started, with many of the same presenters, and style that you loved. Our station has a number of objectives, one of which is our Community Chest, which once fully operational will sponsor local worthy causes – This could be a charity or an individual. More news on this soon.
If you have not listened yet, please re-tune your digital radio and you should find us. We are also available on Alexa and Google smart speakers as well as our app - Please also visit our website at v2radio.co.uk – it's full of local information, news, programme schedules, and local campaigns. Whilst you are browsing, please also head to our Facebook page, and give us a “like” we have some great local content developing there.
With light at the end of the tunnel for business owners and a glimpse of normality on the horizon for customers we have partnered with a local marketing company - Growth Animals. Our aim is to encourage the people of Sussex to shop local (#shoplocalsussex) in order to support independent local business trade.
Through the “Back In Business campaign” launching on the 29th March 2021, the aim is to celebrate the breadth of wonderful small and independent businesses we are lucky enough to have across the county. Ultimately, our aim is to help boost the Sussex economy to the thriving place of commerce it was pre-COVID19.
