You helped us achieve our goal!! You signed our petition in 2020 and helped to kick start our campaign.
We started a campaign five years ago called “30 For A Reason” to increase child safety in my home village of Millhouse Green in Barnsley. Our goal was to reduce the speed limit to 30mph, as it was one of the only primary schools in the Barnsley borough that opens its school gates onto a 40mph road…and last month, our campaign finally won!
The speed limit is down and the village is safer for every single child walking to school each morning. From petitions, to speed surveys, to lobbying Barnsley Council, South Yorkshire Police and highways, this campaign has been a big milestone for child safety and I couldn’t be happier with the result. To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with the year 6 pupils at Millhouse Green to design road safety signs around the local village and those signs are currently being sent to print as we speak. Marie Tidball MP has helped be our ‘VIP judge’ to decide her favourite designs and the school children's designs were fantastic and so clever. The creativity of the school children will soon be on full display as a testament to the campaign towards better road safety (keep your eyes peeled!).
We’re making this world a better place, one step at a time.
Thank you,
George Reid
