A quick update for those who did not make it to the Regeneration meeting on Monday I will summarize in a few words and do hope we will have the video and the minutes of the meeting soon: It seems that Winters would be going anyway as there is only a short lease before crossrail 2 and they are expanding in Hitchin. The traffic survey is a bit mixed up with a few Councillors claiming that the number of Winters Lorries is counted separately and some not. We have asked for a copy but they seem reluctant to release it- though we paid for it through our taxes. What do they have to hide? The whole traffic reduction scheme is hypothetical based on IF someone gets the Winters haulage when they are gone etc etc etc. Please, have a look at the FAQ of the council that you can down load from: https://www.barnet.gov.uk/citizen-home/rubbish-waste-and-recycling/Proposed-Council-Depot--Abbots-Depot-site.html Questions 4,5 and 7 are very interesting and expose their own misleading information. There have been another 6 sites mentioned that were rejected but -though the council promised we would get the reports on them they are reluctant to give us more information (for those of you that are interested the whole correspondence is available) Noone had an answer as to why we have to pay a huge undisclosed amount for land that we cannot do anything with due to lack of time (!) Well what we say is: NO to Depot NO to winters YES to Abbots recreation park Shameless leaflet through our door today claiming we won a victory and winters is going.... failing to mention the food waste, the fact that Winters will be going anyway and the additional traffic we will get from the people working in the depot- they plan a parking space for 80-100 cars (!). That is on top of the waste lorries, transport for London, highway maintenance, salt for winter. Lets not let it happen! We have a leaflet that you can print in A4 and put in your window to let everyone know the truth about our quality of life that we are trying to preserve.
