Demand Justice for the deaths of the environmentalist killed in Cambodia, Brazil, Peru.!!!
The Issue
My name is Luis Gonzaga and I am writing to the people of the world to demand higher standards in the laws that are inexistent, which should protect the environment and the people that look after this precious gift given to us.
- CAMBODIA
* On december 2015 Sieng Darong, a Forestry Administration ranger, and Sab Yoha police officer were on a mission to patrol a protected are of canopy (forest) in Cambodia against illegal deforestation of tree species, some trees exceeded the 500 year old mark. In order remove any obstacles in their way illegal loggers shot both rangers while sleeping.
- PERU ILLEGAL MINING
"Alfredo Vracko the son of the president of a reforestation association murdered on November 19 vowed to continue his father’s work in Peru’s southern Amazonian forest."
- Brazil
*The most dangerous country in the world for environmentalists is Brazil, with 448 killings over the last 10 years.
* Murder of American Nun Dorothy Stang in 2005,
*José Cláudio Ribeiro da Silva and his wife, Maria do Espírito Santo—two Amazon activists shot by gunmen in 2011
*In 2014, 116 environmental activists worldwide were killed, 20% more than the previous year.
40% of these 116 murdered activists belonged to indigenous communities.
* Globally, a report found that only 10 killers of environmental activist have been convicted over the last decade.
The laws that should protect the environment have gone obsolete a long time ago, on top of that the government doesn’t respond as it should, being in this case a matter of live and death.
“Why should the people that do good die, and the evil remain”?
Lets get as many signatures so we can echo the world and bring conciseness about the injustice against environmentalist and don’t let the death’s of these be in vain!
