Last Chance to Nominate Notable Women!

Merna Forster
Victoria, BC, Canada

Apr 7, 2016 — Which Canadian woman would you like to see on our new bank notes in 2018? Please be sure to nominate your favourites before the Bank of Canada deadline: April 15th. You can nominate five women each time you enter the Bank of Canada website at http://www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes/banknoteable/.

Still wondering who to pick? If you are looking for ideas, one place to check is the Women on Bank Notes website (http://womenonbanknotes.ca/) that I created during the campaign. You will find hundreds of suggestions, but keep in mind that the Bank of Canada selection criteria stipulates that the woman must have died at least 25 years ago. There are also many ideas scattered throughout my heroines.ca website (http://www.heroines.ca/), including these two pages:

Female Canadian Aboriginal Leaders http://www.heroines.ca/people/aboriginalleaders.html

Notable Black Women http://www.heroines.ca/history/february.html

I hope that all of you will share your picks with the Bank of Canada, as only the women submitted on the website will be considered by the Advisory Council named by Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz this week in Ottawa. I was surprised to be invited to join this panel!
