The Ottawa Citizen published my op-ed “Bye bye Laurier, hello Lucy?” today. I hope this opinion piece will help to keep discussion going re Canadian women on bank notes, and encourage the Bank of Canada and the federal government to move forward. It’s great that the recent statement from Finance Minister Morneau regarding his potential support of iconic Canadian women on bank notes attracted extensive media coverage, though it seems that many people assumed this is now a fait accompli.
