More International Attention for Absence of Canadian Women on Bank Notes

Canada's sexist bank notes have again received international attention, this time in Australia. As a follow-up to the recent BBC article, a story in Australia notes that the country should be proud of being a leader in celebrating its female heroines. The piece also refers to our campaign in Canada, and the removal of Canadian female historical figures when the polymers were introduced. Why isn't Canada a world leader in celebrating Canadian heroines on bank notes rather than an embarrassing example of discrimination against Canadian women???? Yet our country continues to claim "Canada is a world leader in the promotion and protection of women’s rights and gender equality." (Check out the website for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada for more about our supposed commitment: http://www.international.gc.ca/rights-droits/women-femmes/equality-egalite.aspx?lang=eng) Here's the link to the article from Australia - http://www.news.com.au/finance/money/australia-a-world-leader-in-female-representation-on-banknotes/story-e6frfmci-1227303224689
