Banish Racial Segregation from Federal Buildings

Banish Racial Segregation from Federal Buildings
The Issue
Starting this petition is not only driven by the injustice institutionalized in our society, but by a deeply personal connect. As someone whose ancestors have fought intensely against racial prejudices, and who have descended from a family who have lived through the atrocity of slavery, the existing racial segregation in federal buildings deeply saddens me. Our ancestors thrived and bled for liberation and declaration of equality among all citizens. Yet, we see the rudiments of those very battles - segregation - still persisting in our federal buildings.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports show that racial segregation still continues at a significant scale, undermining the civil rights movement and violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which outlaws discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. This is not just a violation of legislation, but a colossal insult to the memory and sacrifices of those who fought tirelessly for these rights.
This present state of affairs is an unacceptable affront to human rights, freedom, and the very ethos of America. It is time to take rigorous action against this practice and remove the painful symbol of racial segregation from federal buildings.
Let us all come together to fight for this imperative change to eradicate what remains of the chains that once enslaved a race. Please, sign this petition and join us in demanding the banishment of racial segregation from federal buildings. Let us make America equal for all.
