Bandra Needs Playgrounds, Not Convention Centres - Save Bandra Reclamation Football Ground

We strongly oppose the proposal to convert the Bandra Reclamation Football Ground into a convention/exhibition centre.

The BMC has approved a proposal to change the reservation of this 8,450 sq. metre public sports ground under DP 2034. If approved, Mumbai will lose yet another precious open space.

Why This Matters

⚽ Protect Sports Infrastructure
Bandra's football ground serves local players, youth, and sports enthusiasts. Once lost to construction, it can never be replaced.

🌳 Mumbai Needs More Open Spaces, Not Less
Mumbai already suffers from a severe shortage of playgrounds, gardens, and recreational spaces.

🏗️ Convention Centres Can Be Built Elsewhere
A convention centre can be developed at many locations. A football ground requires open land and should remain dedicated to sports.

📢 Public Land Must Serve the Public
Changing a playground reservation sets a dangerous precedent for the future of Mumbai's open spaces.

Our Demands

1. Withdraw the proposal to convert the football ground in Bandra.
2. Retain the existing playground and sports reservation.
3. Upgrade the ground with better sports facilities.
4. Identify an alternative location for the convention centre.
5. Protect all playgrounds and open spaces from unnecessary conversion.
