Bandon Pool Campaign

Bandon Pool Campaign
The Issue
Our Story: Why Bandon Needs a Public Swimming Pool.
Imagine a Saturday in Bandon. The rain is drizzling, and groups of teenagers are looking for something to do. A young mother wants to find a fun, healthy activity for her children that isn't another screen. A retired person is seeking low-impact exercise for their aching joints. A local sports club is trying to find pool time for their athletes to cross-train, but the nearest facility is a long drive away and fully booked.
Right now, in Bandon, these people have nowhere to go.
For too long, our town has been missing a vital piece of community infrastructure. We have fantastic pubs, shops, and sports fields, but we lack a public, indoor space dedicated to health, well-being, and inclusive recreation for every single resident, regardless of age or ability.
This isn't just about wanting a new facility. This is about:
- Water Safety: We live on an island. It is a fundamental life skill that every child should have the opportunity to learn to swim and understand water safety, without their parents facing a long and expensive commute.
- Our Health: From new parents in baby swim classes to seniors managing arthritis, a pool provides low-impact, vital exercise that benefits physical and mental health for a lifetime.
- Our Youth: We owe it to the next generation to provide positive, healthy, and social alternatives that keep them engaged in our community.
- Our Community Spirit: A pool is a social hub, a place where families spend time together, where friends meet, and where people from all walks of life connect.
We have a choice. We can accept the status quo and watch our young people leave for towns with better amenities, or we can invest in Bandon's future.
A public swimming pool will:
- Create local jobs during construction and operation.
- Attract more visitors to our town, boosting our local economy.
- Make Bandon a more attractive place for families to live and work.
- Ultimately, save lives by teaching water safety and improving public health.
This petition is the first step in showing our local representatives and the government that the people of Bandon are united in wanting this change. We are not just asking for a pool, we are asking for a healthier, safer, and more vibrant future for our town.
Your signature will send a powerful message. It says you believe in investing in our community's health, our children's safety, and our town's prosperity.
Please, sign our petition today and share it widely. Together, we can make a splash and build a better Bandon for everyone.
