The issue

I am voicing out on behalf of many unheard individuals who have encountered unpleasant exchanges with vegan extremists. Instead of advocating for a personal dietary choice, some of these vegan activists have turned aggressive, launching harmful comparisons that breach human decency. Bizarrely likening the meat industry to atrocities like rape, slavery, and the Holocaust, these comparisons have traumatized several individuals.

Being a fast food worker, I have faced countless onslaughts from radical vegan protestors. A routine visit to Melbourne Central mall, heart set on a KFC burger, turned into an unwanted confrontation with vegan extremists. If sharing personal choices of eating habits becomes an open invitation for conflict, we are veering away from our democratic principles.

Specifically, there has been an alarming increase in the propagation of extremist vegan content like 'Dominion', 'Earthlings', 'Dairy Is Scary', 'Eggspiracy', 'Cowspiracy', the 'Vegan Teacher', and Tash Peterson's content. These, along with an emerging trend referred to as the 'Christspiracy', are seemingly designed to guilt-trip non-vegans, cause psychological distress, promote gore, and incite hate.

Being plant-based is a personal decision, one that should be made without fear or harassment. It is important to recognize that an individual's dietary choices should not become a battleground for moral superiority.

Hence, I call upon authorities to ban extremist vegan protests, misinformation campaigns, and the aforementioned documentaries that serve as platforms for these harmful narratives. We also need to clamp down on online platforms that allow the circulation of such distressing content without adequate checks and balances.

Finally, owning vegan pets needs regulation, as a fair treatment ensuring pets are given diets consistent with their biological needs is paramount. Let’s strive for a society where personal choices are respected and not weaponized. Sign the petition to make our society more compassionate and respectful to various lifestyle choices.
