Petition the state government to ban the use of failed ai cameras on w.a roads. These cameras have proven time and time again in w.a, interstate and internationaly that they CANNOT in any way identify an object in a hand, or even if theres an object in a hand. The technollgy is a long way from meeting the standard of evidence as its in its absolute infancy, and there use agaisnt the people of w.a as a form of automated harrassment and BLATANT revenue raising when clearly no crime was commited but a fine or warning was sent anyway. Only roughly 30% of the 130,000 of the "infringements" recorded during the trial period were actualy correct and resulted in warnings and we have seen that a huge number of those 50,000 warning were infact false. The state government and infact any government will tell you these work and we need them, tbey dont and we dont need automated harrasment and revenue raising at all. These types of infrignements are already internstionaly proven not to work to detter behaviour. Devices such as these represent passive surveilance of the general public, they track your location, with time stamp, image of your face, vehicle rego, vehicle condition, other occupants of the car etc. And can be stored used later to fabricate a case even if the image contains no crime at the time... Images containing no crime and not imediately associated with a crime should be wiped from police data bases as these images serve no purpose to them, passive surveilance is disgusting and one of the final steps towards a police state, something we in this country are better than becoming. Ban the failed technology behind these cameras from being allowed in our courts as evidence, make police do the jobs we the taxpayers pay them to do and intercept these drivers to actualy change their behaviours, its been long proven drovers respond to being stopped and that mailed fines do little to deter and we deserve actual enforcement not palming of the responsibility to a camera that empiracly DOESNT work.
