I am a resident of West Calder, UK and a pet owner. Recently, my cats have been subjected to unnecessary harm due to our neighbour installing garden/fence spikes. These devices are not only cruel and abusive to my pets but also pose a significant threat to all wildlife in our community.

Garden spikes are often used as deterrents for unwanted animals; however, their use leads to severe injuries and even death among animals who come into contact with them. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), there has been an alarming increase in reported incidents involving these harmful devices across the UK.

It is crucial that we take action now before more innocent animals fall victim. We must urge our local council and lawmakers in West Calder, UK, to change laws regarding the use of garden/fence spikes. By doing so, we can ensure safer environments for both domestic pets like my cats and local wildlife.

There are so many more humane ways to stop wildlife or cats etc from entering a garden . Many options that will keep them away from sprinklers ,to non poisonous plants etc . Please give a little thought about how your actions could impact others . These cats are beloved members of people’s family and to see them injured is cruel never mind the soaring prices of vets . A family Pet is a persons full world they could be suffering from depression or unwell and these pets are vital for their happiness too . So please think a little more of how your cruel intentions affects someone else . These spikes are awful and need banned now !
