BAN THE PRODUCTION/SALE OF CAKES/DESSERTS THAT HAVE ADDED SUGARS AS THE MAIN INGREDIENT

The Issue

WE MUST NOT ALLOW CAKE AND DESSERT COMPANIES TO MASS PRODUCE CAKES AND DESSERTS THAT HAVE SUGAR OR ADDED SUGARS AS THE MAIN INGREDIENT!!!  

It is very important that ALL CAKES be made MAINLY OF HEALTHY INGREDIENTS and that sugar only be a small part of the final product. 

Most UK supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants and pubs mainly sell cakes or desserts that have sugar as the MAIN ingredient. Those cakes and desserts are tasteless, they only taste of sugar. They often do not have even one healthy ingredient in them. They are really damaging the teeth and oral health of the nation. There are many teenagers and young adults with very weak, rotten teeth all over the UK and Europe! The situation is terrible. Some adult males have lost all their teeth or most of them in their 20s and 30s! Our adult teeth are supposed to last our entire adult lives!

WE MUST GET ALL COOKS, CHEFS AND BAKERS TO PRODUCE HEALTHY CAKES AND DESSERTS THAT HAVE AS THEIR MAIN INGREDIENTS WHOLEGRAIN FLOURS, FRUIT, VEGETABLES, NUTS, OATS ETC.

Unfortunately most cooks, chefs and bakers on the planet are producing MAINLY UNHEALTHY cakes, snacks and desserts that have sugar as the main ingredient at the moment. This way of cooking and baking just destroys people's good health and happiness every day. 

The NHS and WHO daily recommendations for added sugar intake are:

6 - 7 teaspoons of sugar or about 30 grams per day for adults 

5 teaspoons or 20 grams a day for children. 

1 teaspoon of sugar = 4 grams

The problem is that in the UK and Europe most teenagers and adults are consuming about 120 grams of added sugar a day which is about 28 teaspoons of added sugar in a day! 

People are struggling to keep sugar low in their diet in the UK and Europe. The cakes, snacks, drinks, sauces and foods in the community almost all contain added sugar. MANY CAKES, SNACKS AND DESSERTS ARE MAINLY MADE OF ADDED SUGAR!!! Just one product puts an adult over their daily recommended amount of added sugar! 

We need to find ways to reduce the added sugar intake of the nation.

Many people do not seem to KNOW what the current limits are for added sugar intake. These need to be made clearer to everyone. Packaging labels can state this information especially if the product contains a lot of sugar.

Adults need suggestions on healthy ways to have their max 7 teaspoons of added sugar a day.

There need to be better guidelines about the amount of sugar to have in 1 serving of a dessert. In my opinion there should be maximum 1.5 teaspoons of sugar in 1 dessert serving, in one slice of cake. 

All desserts, all cake slices should come with 1 portion of fresh fruit too. This would help sweeten the dessert in a healthier manner. 

This means that if people have 2 desserts in a day they would use up 3 teaspoons of sugar. Then they could have 4 teaspoons of sugar in their drinks and main meal sauces. 

IF ALL CAKE AND DESSERT COMPANIES PRODUCE MAINLY PRODUCTS THAT HAVE MAXIMUM 1.5 TEASPOONS OF ADDED SUGAR PER SERVING THEN THAT WOULD HELP THE NATION HAVE HEALTHIER TEETH, BETTER ORAL HEALTH, BETTER MENTAL HEALTH AND BETTER GENERAL HEALTH.
