Ban the KKK from Delaware and Franklin Counties in Ohio

Ban the KKK from Delaware and Franklin Counties in Ohio
The Issue
As a resident of Westerville, in the northern part of Franklin County, Ohio, I am deeply concerned about the presence and activities of a racist organization known as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). This group, specifically their North Counties Hammer Klavern faction, is particularly aggressive and are actively working to prevent black people from moving into communities north of I-270. They are not just an abstract threat; they are real people living among us. In my neighborhood alone there are two known members. My brothers live in Sunbury where several more reside. Visiting Lewis Center, Powell, Worthington, and Dublin, we already feel odd as an interracial couple. Knowing that there are potentially over a hundred KKK members in the area is terrifying. It brings images to mind of cross burnings and lynchings.
You see them driving around with flags on their cars and the flag has a big red “K” with two hammers. They have T-shirts with the same symbol and the words, “North Counties Hammer Klavern,” on the front and the words, “HOLD THE LINE” on the back with crossed hammers. My elderly mother-in-law lives with us and she is terrified as well. She uses a walker and they taunt her and spit in her direction and call her names in Walmart.
This issue is personal to me as I am married to a biracial person and we have been direct victims of their hate crimes. We have received hate mail at our home and even witnessed a cross being burned in my brother’s neighborhood! The fear for our safety is palpable every day.
The KKK's actions go against everything that our diverse community stands for. According to data from Census Bureau (2019), both Delaware and Franklin counties have seen an increase in racial diversity over the past decade - this progress should be celebrated not hindered by groups like KKK.
We demand immediate action from local law enforcement agencies and government officials to ban this organization from operating within Delaware and Franklin counties. Arrest these individuals who spread hatred and fear among peaceful residents, send them a strong message that racism will not be tolerated here or anywhere else!
Please sign this petition if you believe in creating safe communities free from hate crimes or racial discrimination!
