I awoke one morning to a horrifying image on the news. Racial slurs and Nazi signs were drawn on people's cars - an appalling act of hate that struck a deep chord within me. This is personal to me and I cannot stand by and watch hate proliferate in our society. This is why I am advocating for a ban against the public display of anti-Semitic symbols like swastikas and other Nazi signs to safeguard not just the Jewish community but everyone who is threatened by these symbols of hatred.

Around the globe, hate crimes against the Jewish community are increasing at an alarming rate. The Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States reported a 14% increase in hate crimes against the Jewish community in 2018 (FBI Hate Crime Statistics Report, 2018). In addition, a survey conducted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights found that 89% of Jews living in twelve EU Member states believe that anti-Semitism has increased in their country over the past five years (EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, 2018).

These statistics and my personal experience are tangible evidences of the increasing prevalence of anti-Semitism. Steps need to be taken under the law to stamp out these symbols that further fuel hatred in our societies. It is imperative that we act swiftly and decisively to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities.

Therefore, we call on our local, regional, and national governments to put in place appropriate legislation banning the public display of anti-Semitic symbols. This ban would send a clear message - that hate and discrimination have no place in our societies. Stand with us in condemning hate. Lend your voice to this cause, sign the petition now.
