Stop the use of animals in circuses in France

The Issue

Circuses in France are still legally able too use wild animals as an attraction in their performances.

In one of the communes in our postal code of 11240 the circus is allowed too set up at least twice a year, and put up cages and paddocks for the animals that are used in the acts.

Today I witnessed the conditions that these poor creatures live in.  I was followed by a member of the circus team as I was taking pictures, but was left alone when I explained that I was walking my dog.

There were two cages, one cage that held two Lions, is small, narrow and cramped and has no shade from the July sun. A tiger is at the other end of this cage in equally cramped conditions. An area is sectioned off with two Shetland ponies and a Llama, again no shade. One final area is sectioned off for Camels, large long horned cattle and a horse. Again very little shade and the large male Camel was pacing back and forth and clearly distressed.

How, in 2020, in a supposedly civilised country, is this allowed to happen?  Surely everyone is educated enough too know that the training and caging of animals is beyond cruel, and we need too ensure that our children and grandchildren are made aware that this is not how animals should be treated.

The Maire of the commune has the right to refuse the circus from setting up in the village. We need to let him know that we will not tolerate this cruelty in our community.  This circus travels from commune to commune, we need too stop it from setting up anywhere else and that the animals no longer have too suffer
