Securly is rated very poorly because of its inconvenience to students and even some teachers. From my personal experiences, I have seen multiple teachers attempt to give their students an assignment where they need to do research on a specific website, but the website was blocked. This causes teachers to have to make a whole new assignment or not have students do it at all, which takes away education. Securly needs to be banned so students can access more websites on their laptops and so their privacy is respected, which does not happen with Securly preinstalled by school administrators. Research has found that Securly monitors and sells students' activity to third parties without asking for any form of consent/permission which goes against laws as many laws mandate that companies obtain EXPLICIT consent from users before collecting, sharing, or selling consumer data to third parties. So, sign and this petition to ban Securly from school laptops.
