Hours on the operating table and hope was all we could cling to, but alas, his injuries were too severe for him to survive. With heavy hearts, we had to make the painful decision to put him to sleep, a decision no pet owner should ever have to face under such circumstances.

This tragic event is not isolated. Across communities, innocent domestic animals, cherished members of families, are falling victim to the misuse of rifles and air rifles. It's not just cats, but dogs, birds, and other pets are suffering unnecessarily due to the lenient regulations surrounding these weapons.

There is an urgent need for change. The solution is twofold: First, completely ban the use of rifles for harmful activities against domestic animals. Secondly, implement mandatory licensing for ownership of air rifles and airsoft guns. This would ensure that only responsible and accountable individuals can access these weapons, and it would significantly reduce the number of tragic incidents like what happened to Dobby.

Statistics show that in areas where licensing is mandatory, incidents of animal cruelty involving firearms decrease significantly. Furthermore, countries with stringent gun control laws display a marked reduction in cases of unnecessary animal suffering.
