Ban personal use of fireworks in Niagara Falls, Ontario

Ban personal use of fireworks in Niagara Falls, Ontario
The Issue
For far too long, the citizens of Niagara Falls, Ontario, have been subjected to constant disturbances and fear due to the widespread use of fireworks. Whether it's the official, seasonal fireworks launched directly from the Falls, or personal fireworks allowed during certain holidays, the noise and chaos have become overwhelming. It is high time we reclaim the peace and quiet that our city truly deserves.
The proliferation of personal fireworks is a documented public safety threat, leading to a rise in both injuries and costly fires. Beyond the direct property damage, the use of these devices puts an unacceptable burden on municipal resources, forcing fire and emergency services to commit personnel to preventable incidents. This directly compromises the overall safety and resilience of our community.
Moreover, these fireworks are a nightmare for pet owners. The loud bangs and flashes traumatize animals, causing them extreme anxiety and distress. Many pet owners report their animals suffering from panic attacks or running away in fear, which is completely unnecessary and avoidable.
For individuals with PTSD or heightened anxiety, the unpredictability of personal fireworks can trigger episodes of panic and fear, disrupting their daily lives. For many, instead of celebrating, events like Canada Day turn into a day of dread and discomfort, making them prisoners in their own homes.
Banning personal use of fireworks is a realistic and actionable solution. Many communities in Canada and around the world have already implemented similar bans with successful results. These communities are enjoying quieter, more serene environments while still celebrating through organized, regulated firework displays conducted by professionals.
We urge the local government of Niagara Falls, Ontario, to follow suit for the safety, well-being, and comfort of its residents. Establishing a complete ban on personal fireworks use will protect our city, reduce noise pollution, and allow everyone—people and animals alike—to feel safe and secure year-round.
Please join me in calling for the ban of personal fireworks in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Sign this petition to help bring back the peace and tranquility our community longs for.
