Ban Moonbug Content and Cancel Cocomelon Movie

The Issue

Moonbug has come under fire by many people, including myself, due to the shows it's producing, notably Cocomelon. The quality of these programs is alarmingly low, and it's appalling to see them overshadow more deserving content. Cocomelon, in particular, has become a household name, but many argue its popularity isn't merited by the content it offers. Meanwhile, countless higher-quality shows are being pushed aside, their potential and creativity being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Moonbug's productions. This isn't fair to the creators who put genuine effort into crafting meaningful and delightful children's programs.

Pushing matters further, the notion of a Cocomelon movie is not only unwarranted but sends the wrong message about what merits a cultural franchise. The decision to produce a movie centered around a show that many believe lacks substance is a stark example of prioritizing marketability over quality. So many exceptional shows deserve such an opportunity far more, yet they're being denied this chance by a company that seems to prioritize quantity and visibility above all else.

In addition, Dreamworks has announced a Cocomelon movie to be released next year, and if it is released, it could lead to a downfall to one of the most respected animation studios in the world. Canceling Cocomelon The Movie not only will help the beloved animation studio, but will also open up more room for better quality productions. Heck, Dreamworks could replace it with a movie based on a superior preschool show.

We need to stand up and challenge this trend. Encouraging platforms and producers to focus on and promote high-quality children's programming is essential. By ending the production and distribution of low-standard shows like those produced by Moonbug, especially when a movie is proposed, we can redirect attention and resources to genuinely deserving content.

It's vital that networks, streaming services, and movie producers listen to the consumers who demand more from children's television and film. Our children deserve content that enlightens, educates, and entertains rather than distracts and pacifies.

Whilst the end of Cocomelon and other Moonbug works will likely lead to some tears among the fans, it's better to have higher quality shows being made and beloved among fans,

Join me in urging the stakeholders to reconsider their decisions surrounding Moonbug and the Cocomelon movie, and stand for quality children's programming. Please sign this petition to make our voices heard.
