Ban lobbying in United States Congress

The Issue

The government has listened to the companies lobbying them for far too long. The money hasn’t trickled down yet and the people are hungry. The United States Congress has a duty to serve the PEOPLE, not the corporations padding their already-full pockets! I say enough is enough and we give the power of the people their voices back.

No longer will congressmen be making false promises during their campaigns because there will be no more financial gain for the positions. Congressmen and women are meant to be public servants, and we need to remind them of that with a pay cut right back at them. Our voices will be heard, changes will be made. Make lobbying in Congress ILLEGAL as it should be; it’s just fancy bribery!

The role of Congress is to legislate and act on behalf of the American public, yet lobbying has tipped the balance away from the needs of the majority. According to a report by the Center for Responsive Politics, in 2020 alone, lobbying expenditures reached $3.53 billion. This raises an alarming concern about the influence corporations have over our legislative processes.

It's time for a change. Eliminating the presence of lobbyists in Congress would curb the undue influence of wealthy corporations and give ordinary citizens a stronger voice in government. Without the sway of lobby power, Congress can focus on creating laws that truly reflect the needs and desires of the people it serves.

Let's remind our elected representatives that they work for us, the citizens, and not for the financial interests of lobbyists. By supporting a ban on lobbying in Congress, we can take a stand against corruption and restore integrity to our governmental institutions.

Please join me in calling for this pivotal change. Sign this petition to demand Congress eliminate lobbying and ensure it serves the best interests of the American people. Stand with us in the fight for true democracy and accountability in government.
