Thank you for signing our petition to support smart development and protect our residential neighborhoods from inappropriate large-scale ground-mounted solar development.
Right now, the Town Board is considering whether or not to ban large-scale solar installations in residential zones. If a full ban does not pass, we need to urge the Board to adopt strong limitations that will protect the character and quality of our RESIDENTIAL neighborhoods.
Please take a few minutes to email and call the Town Board members today and tell them you support a ban OF COMMERCIAL SOLAR PROJECTS, but in the alternative, THEY MUST PLACE reasonable restrictions on large-scale ground-mounted solar in residential districts, including:
- A 200-foot setback from property lines
- A 10-foot maximum height for solar panels
- REASONABLE screening requirements measured from the property line, not from homes
- No waivers for screening due to topography
- No grandfathering unless the SOLAR USE is already APPROVED AND operational by January 1, 2025
These common-sense protections reflect the SPIRIT OF THE Town’s Comprehensive Plan and would align with other NEIGHBORING communities.
