I’m sure we’ve all seen the horrors unfolding in Minnesota with ICE, where they have consistently demonstrated a lack of training, education, and understanding of our communities. Multiple instances have already taken place, ICE agents have unfairly profiled Native Americans from various tribes across the United States. These agents have even gone so far as to dismiss legitimate tribal identification, carelessly labeling it as "fake."

Our people deserve to live without fear of being unjustly targeted or harassed. The possible presence of ICE within our reservation boundaries poses a direct threat to our safety and well-being. It's deeply concerning that their actions undermine the sovereignty and dignity of our tribal members.

We call upon our tribal council to take immediate action in banning ICE agents and all their operations from the reservation territories. By doing so, the council will uphold their obligation to protect and serve our people, ensuring our community remains a safe space for all its members.

There are proven, lawful ways to ensure the security of our borders and maintain the integrity of our nation without resorting to aggressive and disrespectful tactics. Our tribal sovereignty allows us to establish our own rules and protections, and it's essential we exercise this right to the fullest.
