Ban Hawking of Puppies and Kittens At The Westgate Roundabout

Ban Hawking of Puppies and Kittens At The Westgate Roundabout
The Issue
Only recently the Westgate roundabout has become the go to area in terms of buying both puppies and kittens respectively. These pets face the vagaries of extreme weather with neither adequate food nor water and are kept out all day by ruthless sellers.
This is the epitome of animal abuse. Some of these puppies and kittens are barely a few weeks old, and still need to be with their mothers. The hawkers seem to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and are in no condition to handle such delicate animals. Moreover, this practice has led to the increase in dog thefts as the sale of these animals is a quick and lucrative way to feed their habits.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act CAP 360 creates for cruelty offences and a raft of stringent punishment meted out to all who break these laws. This petition demands:
1. That the Nairobi County Government through the relevant department(s) stop the illegal puppies and kittens market immediately.
2. That the puppies and kittens are recovered from the sellers and rehabilitated in animal partner rescue centres.
Sign the petition and end cruelty to both the puppies and kittens by putting an end to the illegal market.
