This practice is akin to playing god with everyone’s lives, introducing new experimental viruses into our atmosphere with no discernible benefit. The recent COVID-19 pandemic serves as a stark reminder of how a single pathogen can impact the entire world.

Gain-of-function research involves manipulating viruses in labs to explore their potential for infecting humans. 

Moreover, the development of biological weapons poses an even more significant threat. The World Health Organization warns that these weapons have the potential for mass destruction on a scale far beyond that of chemical or nuclear weapons due to their ability to spread uncontrollably (World Health Organization).
