Limerick City TD, Willie O'Dea, has said that Fianna Fáil will review an upcoming bill which aims to ban fur farming in Ireland. Deputy O'Dea - Fianna Fáil's Spokesperson on Social Protection - stated in an email: "I understand your concerns regarding the practices of fur farming." Referring to Solidarity's "Fur Farm Prohibition Bill 2018" which is due to be published in September, he outlined that his party will review the bill and "our Frontbench will then make a final decision on the specific legislation." Fianna Fáil has previously backed an end to fur farming. In a coalition government with the Green Party, it agreed in 2009 to a ban. A 3-year phase-out of fur farming was included in the Green Party/Fianna Fáil programme for government. However, due to the government subsequently collapsing, this ban unfortunately never materialised. Last year, Fianna Fáil TD and former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Seán Haughey (Dublin Bay North) asked the Minister for Agriculture "if he will consider revoking licences" for fur farming.
