Great news from Croatia - Fur farming BANNED this month following 10-year phase-out http://www.croatiaweek.com/croatia-praised-for-banning-fur-farms/ Bad news from Ireland - With the government refusing to ban fur farming, Ireland shamefully continues to be a part of the disgusting fur industry. An estimated 200,000 mink are killed on Irish fur farms every year. The animals are pulled from their filthy cages after six months of permanent captivity, thrown into a box and poisoned to death with carbon monoxide gas. Mink are semi-aquatic and highly evolved physiologically to hold their breath. They are able to detect a lack of oxygen in their blood and are prone to hypoxia, which means that they can suffer particularly during gassing. ACTION ALERT Watch our video footage which shows the victims of fur farming in Ireland https://youtu.be/artr7qwCLLk Demand a ban on fur farming in Ireland. Email the Minister for Agriculture now. Fax: +353 (0)1 661 1013 and +353 (0)21 437 4862 SAMPLE LETTER Dear Minister Creed, I support a total ban on fur farming and an immediate closure of Ireland's fur farms. In these hellholes, animals suffer a horrendous life of misery before being cruelly gassed to death. There is absolutely no justification for allowing this cruelty to continue. Please ban fur farming now. Yours sincerely, [Name/Location]
