As concerned citizens deeply affected by the dissemination of false information through television and social media, we strongly believe that FOX News Media significantly contributes to the spread of such misinformation. The lies and propaganda from this network, originating from the United States, have trickled into the Canadian political and cultural landscapes, causing unnecessary divisions. Furthermore, it distracts, and detracts, from real issues that need to be solved. This rhetoric promotes division and hatred while catering to the rich which puts workers and families at risk. The lies being pushed by Fox news are affecting American democracy. These lies could also affect our democracy if we do not safeguard journalism and fact-based news and information sources.

FOX News has been repeatedly connected to the promotion of false information and conspiracy theories. In Fact, way back in a 2012 Fairleigh Dickinson University poll found that FOX viewers were less informed about news events than people who do not follow the news. Moreover, this is not a characteristic seen in Canadian news broadcasters, showing an alarming incongruity with our values of truthful broadcasting.

Today, Fox doesn't even try to hide the slanted, Pro-Trump propaganda, even at the cost of sacrificing it's own reputation. Every day, FOX releases slanted, news that is so far from the truth it can only be called propaganda and in some cases flat out lies.

NEWS STATIONS SHOULD NOT CATER TO ANYONE'S AGENDA, BUT THE TRUTH.

Our broadcasting standards are designed to ensure reliable news dissemination, fostering trust amongst consumers and contributing to the healthy discourse in Canada. FOX News has clearly violated these standards. As such, it's only fitting to revoke their broadcasting license in Canada.

We call on the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) to consider our plea and impose this necessary regulation to protect our communities from further harm.
