Intersex genital mutilation (IGM) is still practiced and legal in most of the world. Surgeries often aren’t needed and are typically done to fit society’s norms so others can enjoy sex with the person in the future, or so they look more appealing to others. This is done to children, literal babies, all for others to enjoy their bodies more. As a victim of IGM, my justice comes from ensuring that no other child has to go through these horrific and unnecessary surgeries.

On April 4th, 2024, the UN voted to adopt a resolution designed to protect intersex people and rights. The resolution calls on states to “combat discrimination, violence, and harmful practices against persons with innate variations in sex characteristics and address the root causes.” This is a tremendous step and the start of protection and justice for us worldwide, but we need to keep pushing for our countries to put a ban in place for these unnecessary surgeries.

Please show support for us by signing this petition, I want this to be used as proof that people stand with us and want an end to this horrid treatment of our bodies and rights.

note that its unnecessary surgery, this would exclude any medically necessary surgery and there would have to be proof that it is medically necessary.
