The Issue

BAN DONALD TRUMP FROM ENTERING CANADA BECAUSE OF HIS CRIMINAL RECORD  --  Under Canada's criminal code anyone with a felony criminal conviction in their country of citizenship is automatically refused entry into Canada.  Every single conviction, no matter how long ago it happened, means a felon can be denied entry into Canada under this nation's laws.

US president Donald Trump is a convicted felon under American law.  He has been convicted of sexual assault and 34 counts of falsification of business records (i.e. fraud) in the US.  In addition, Trump has been impeached twice, once for abuse of power and once for incitement of insurrection related to the January 6, 2021 Washington DC riots.

Canada will be hosting the 2025 G7 Summit from June 15 to 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta.  This annual summit is attended by the heads of all G7 nations.  Since the first summit was held in 1975 there has never been a convicted felon elected to lead a G7 country, until now with Donald Trump.

Canadian law is very clear about barring convicted felons from entering this country.  And there should be no exceptions to that law regardless of the status of the individual, and particularly not for felons who are individuals with power and privilege.

Given Donald Trump's record of multiple criminal convictions in the US, given his threats to launch an economic war against Canada by imposing across the board 25% tariffs on Canadian goods exported to the US, and given his repeated threats to annex Canada in violation of international law, and his stated intent to violate Canada's territorial integrity and sovereignty, it is clear that Donald Trump is an imminent threat to Canada and all Canadians, and is willing to violate treaties and conventions which have maintained peace and friendship between Canada and the US for well over a century.

No felon should be allowed into Canada, and particularly not one like Donald Trump, a man with a criminal record who is threatening to destroy Canada as an independent, sovereign nation.

As such we the undersigned demand that the Canadian government uphold Canadian law without equivocation by refusing Donald Trump entry into Canada to attend the G7 Summit, or any other international meeting or summit that takes place on Canadian soil for the duration of his presidency.
