at the West Hollywood city Council meeting on Monday, March 18, item 2I the dockless mobility program contract will be discussed. The staff is recommending that they terminate the contract with Bird, due to the fact that Bird is now in chapter 11 bankruptcy, and would probably not be able to uphold their part of the contract.
This is great news, but it’s only half the picture! The city is adding a clause to their contract which stipulates that Lime must give them advanced notice if they are going to declare chapter 11 bankruptcy. However, Bird was very sneaky, and I don’t think that Lime would be more forthcoming. I also worry that Lime will try to increase the number of scooters and e-bikes to cover the scooters that Bird will be removing.
Please please speak up and let the city council know how you feel about the scooters on our streets and sidewalks. Let them know that you don’t want them to continue any part of the contract! Come to the meeting, call, or write them an email to publiccomment@weho.org letting them know how you feel.
If you don’t speak up, nothing will change!
Thanks!
