Ban Cloud Seeding in Connecticut

The Issue

The critical matter of weather modification and the ceaseless and unregulated cloud seeding taking place in Connecticut and across our nation, effects us all.  The proposed senate bill, SB 417 - An Act Concerning Permit Requirements For Cloud Seeding Activities In The State was introduced by Senator Saud Anwar, 3rd District, and is co-sponsored by Senator Jeff Gordon of the 35th District.  The proposed senate bill was referred to the Joint Committee on Environment on January 10, 2025, with no further action ascertainable, as of this writing.

Other states are responding expeditiously to the public alarm, with Tennessee and Florida taking the lead with recent legislative action with respect to their landmark geo-engineering bans that prohibit weather modification activities, including cloud seeding.  The purpose of the proposed SB 417 is “To protect public safety, health and the environment from any unreasonably risky weather modification”, and our leadership in Connecticut cannot and should not delay in moving proposed SB417 forward.  However it is our collective responsibility as concerned citizens to ensure that our health, safety and that of the environment remain true to the purpose of any such enactment of legislation…and that includes a ban on cloud seeding operations until full assurance of public and environmental safety can be achieved, through short and long term monitoring and studies.

It is our right to know what we are breathing in, at what chemical concentrations and frequencies, along with a full understanding of the impact on our soil, water, terrestrial and aquatic life.  No longer can we stand by and wait, whether cynical, perplexed or well informed.  We must act now to release our brilliant and nurturing sunshine held hostage by these unnatural and dangerous operations.  We must be heard and we must get answers to our questions, without delay or deterrence.

Let’s all work together to make our beautiful state a hallmark for human health, and safety, ensconced in an environmental treasure, for all who live and visit.
