"I am a supporter of fox-hunting" - John Paul O’Shea TD (Fine Gael, Cork North West) shamefully expressing support for a bloodsport which involves abhorrent animal cruelty. Foxes are chased by packs of hounds and when caught, they are knocked to the ground, bitten, disembowelled and pulled apart.

John Paul O’Shea TD and animal cruelty issues
A constituent told ICABS that when Cllr John Paul O Shea was asked if he agrees with the activities of the local Duhallow fox hunt, his shameful response was “I’m not opposed to them”.

At a meeting of Cork County Council on 9 January 2023, Cllr John Paul O’Shea shamefully voted AGAINST a motion calling on members to write to the Minister for Agriculture “to request that a nationwide ban on hare coursing be introduced.”
