Cork County Councillors are being urged to support a motion calling on the government to ban cruel hare coursing.
The motion will be tabled by Green Party Councillors Alan O’Connor and Liam Quaide at a meeting of Cork County Council on Monday (9 January 2023) at 11am..
The motion states that "this council would write to Charlie McConalogue T.D., Minister for Agriculture, to request that a nationwide ban on hare coursing be introduced.”
Similar motions have already been passed by Sligo County Council and Fingal County Council.
Join us in urging Cork County Councillors to vote in favour of the motion. This would be in line with public opinion. A RED C poll has shown that a 77% majority want the government to ban hare coursing, with just 9% disagreeing with a ban.
