Ducks savaged by frenzied pack of hunt dogs

A householder has lashed out at Avondhu Hunt Club after dogs belonging to the group allegedly savaged a flock of ducks on his land.

59 year old James Joyce was at home in Rockmills, near Kildorrery last Sunday at 4pm when a pack of hunting dogs broke into his yard.

In a frenzy they attacked James’s ducks ripping their heads and legs off as they feasted. The participants in the hunt were nearby as they pursued a fox across the countryside.

James said that he was deeply shocked by the experience and has called on the hunt participants to treat the countryside with more respect.
