I am advocate for the welfare of horses worldwide. That being said, I am DEEPLY disturbed by the widespread abuse inflicted on these gorgeous animals through a practice known as 'Big Lick'. This so-called 'discipline' is nothing short of cruel, dangerous, and abusive. The pain reflected in the eyes of these horses is unbearable to witness.

Big Lick involves forcing horses into an unnatural gait through painful methods such as soring - applying chemicals or devices to their legs to cause discomfort and produce this gait. According to a report by the Humane Society, this practice has been linked with chronic pain, inflammation, and long-term damage in horses (Humane Society Report, 2018). Despite regulations against soring in some countries, like the United States, under the Horse Protection Act (1970), enforcement remains weak due to various loopholes.

My petition calls for an outright national ban on Big Lick horse riding in the U.S.A. I urge international and national animal welfare organizations and governments worldwide and nationwide to recognize this form of animal cruelty and take immediate action against it.
