Just recently, I was finally able to get in contact with Andrew Weaver, who is the MLA for Oak Bay - Gordon Head and the leader of the Green Party of British Columbia. I have been trying to get in contact with Andrew for weeks, as I knew he would be a smart and compassionate MLA willing to work with us. Thankfully, I was right. Andrew has promised to present our petition in the Legislature. This means that at a certain time of the day when the Legislature is in session, Andrew would rise and speak about our petition in front of his colleagues and on live TV. He also stated that he would consider introducing a private members bill with our petition, but can't make any promises right now.
Unfortunately he won't be able to present our petition until October at the earliest. It is still possible the Legislature won't even be in session at that time, and we may have to wait longer. But the good news is, we will get out petition presented in the Legislature, which is a big step forward.
For those of you that live in B.C. and haven't contacted your local MLA, please do so! My last update gives a detailed tutorial of how to go about doing so.
For those of you that live outside of B.C., contact our Premier (Christy Clark) and Minister of Agriculture (Norm Letnick)! Their contact information are in the links below.
