No living being deserves pain, starvation, fear or cruelty for nothing. I started this petition to raise awareness, demand stronger protection laws and encourage real accountability for those who harm animals. Every year, millions of animals endure painful and inhumane procedures in laboratories. These experiments often leave them scarred for life or result in their premature death. According to the Humane Society, approximately 100 million animals, including rats, mice, rabbits, monkeys, and dogs, are subjected to these tests annually in the United States. This unnecessary cruelty is often justified in the name of scientific advancement, despite the existence of more humane and reliable alternatives.

There are numerous proven methods that do not involve animals, such as in vitro testing, computer modeling, and human-patient simulators. These alternatives not only spare animals from suffering but also provide results that are often more relevant to human health. Countries like Norway and Germany have already taken steps toward animal testing bans and are reaping the benefits of innovative research without the ethical dilemmas.

By introducing legislation to ban and prosecute animal testing in our state, we can set a precedent for other states and contribute to a more compassionate world. Legislation should include substantial penalties for violations, funding for the development of alternative testing methods, and initiatives to support businesses transitioning away from animal-based research.
