We, concerned citizens and animal lovers, urge the authorities in San Francisco to take immediate action to prevent Augusto Deoliveira, AKA The Dog Daddy, from conducting dog training workshops in our communities.  His history of animal abuse is well-documented, and his training methods create a public safety hazard and have been widely condemned by leading governing bodies industry wide.

1.     Inhumane Training Techniques

Deoliveira’s harsh punishment-based methods rely on fear and intimidation.  He has caused immense suffering to countless dogs under his care using cruel physical punishments; hanging; strangulation; and intentionally frightening dogs to the point of bowel incontinence.  

2.     Public Safety Risk

Inhumane training techniques increase the chance of fearful dogs behaving aggressively in public, posing risks for owners, families, children, and other members of society who may encounter these dogs.  The risk is compounded by Deoliveira encouraging others to emulate his techniques.

3.     Lack of Scientific Support and Condemnation from Industry Leaders

ALL leading governing bodies involved in animal welfare and training have released position statements explicitly warning against Deoliveira and his practices.  Numerous industry experts and dog training professionals have publicly condemned Deoliveira and his techniques as outdated, abusive and dangerous.

Stand together against animal cruelty.  Allowing Deoliveira into our community, would send a dangerous message that it is acceptable to mistreat animals under the guise of training them.
