A petition by the people of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia to our Parliaments, Governments, and Institutions.

We condemn the beatings and violence currently happening on the streets of Belarus. We cannot just stand by and watch this occurring to our neighbors.

Thirty years ago the citizens of the Baltic countries stood in solidarity in a Baltic Way from Tallinn to Riga and Vilnius against the Soviet oppression. This paved the way for the restoration of the independence of the three republics, setting an important example for other Soviet republics and a pathway to sovereignty. We are now enjoying our freedom, democracy, prosperity, and being members of the EU and NATO. Yet right next door in Belarus, civil protesters are being attacked, arrested, or shot by the Belarusian OMON, police, and army troops for simply expressing their desire for freedom and dignity.

Let’s remember our Baltic Way and stand in solidarity with the people of Belarus for freedom, fair elections, and free speech.

We ask our respective Baltic states to:

1. Provide individuals fleeing Belarus political asylum, medical care, and any other required urgent care,
2. Streamline residency and work permits for individuals fleeing Belarus, and any other permits or regulations required to enable them to support their families.
3. Allow Belarusians to live the life in freedom and prosperity they deserve within our Baltic borders.
