No Fracking in Balcombe Society (No FiBs)
May 6, 2016
At the Paris climate talks in December, David Cameron said: "Instead of making excuses tomorrow to our children and grandchildren, we should be taking action against climate change today…What we are looking for is not difficult, it is doable and therefore we should come together and do it." All agree on the need for extremely urgent action, but since Paris, the government has actually gone backwards on climate change. Subsidies for clean energy have been side-lined in favour of subsidies for fossil fuels. Roads, runways and fracking are being pushed through despite strong local opposition. Campaign against Climate Change is organising a march – walking backwards - down Whitehall. This will be a colourful event with various sideshows to make a very serious point: we're running out of time to act on climate change, and we can't afford to go backwards. Meet 1200, Nelson’s Column. Please join us there. Please circulate to your friends and contacts – the more the merrier the bigger the impact. There will be a lively anti-fracking section, hopefully including a song from Balcombe 2013, come and sing with us!
