https://consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/portal/ho/ep/src/newrules/oilandgas?pointId=1419248829504#section-1419248829504 There are 7 questions, although mainly 4 worth responding too from a community perspective. If you would like to lodge a basic objection feel free to use the ideas below and embellish if you wish, the more personalised the better: 1) Do you agree with our approach to use standard rules for these onshore oil and gas activities? 1)No it is wrong to assume that all sites are the same and that standard rules can be applied. The Environment Agency is essentially helping the government push through this industry at the expense of environmental concerns. This permit will allow companies to industrialise an area and make the next step of fracking or acidising for production much easier at the expense of local communities. 2) Do you agree with the proposed new rules that have been set out in section 3 of this consultation? 2)No because they allow gas companies to conduct exploratory work with no explicit consultation needed. This permit leaves the companies to self-monitor which is morally wrong. This basically means they can flow test without individual permissions and consultation, which will involve 'small volume fracturing'. The consequences if things went wrong, could be very high. 3) Have we correctly identified all the risks for each activity, as described in the generic risk assessments associated with the consultation? 3)No, this permit consultation plays down many of the environmental and health risks and sets out inadequate guidelines for both air and water monitoring. It also allows the use of Hydrochloric acid at 15-25% concentrations above that which were deemed safe in Balcombe. It also allows the use of Hydrofluoric acid a highly dangerous acid. There are implications for worker, road and public safety with the use of this substance. It allows this activity within 10m of any water course and within 200m of 'sensitive receptors' (us) which is too close. 4) 5) 6) 7)Please tell us if you have any other views or comments on these proposed rules that have not been covered by previous questions. 7)This consultation has not been conducted accordance with the guidelines it claims to be. It has occurred over an election and all interested parties have not been informed. This consultation has been heavily slanted towards industry and not enough effort has been made to notify communities. https://consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/portal/ho/ep/src/newrules/oilandgas?pointId=1419248829504#section-1419248829504 A petition too. Although keep in mind that individual responses are always more valuable: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/887/315/745/?z00m=24516720&redirectID=1707463551 The Frack Stops here.
