Our Next Steps and How You Can Help

When our petition to remove the racist statue of Robert Moses in the village of Babylon reached 13,000 signatures, the mayor told organizers that he did not accept digital petitions. Today, organizers took the absolutely massive stack of pages that the non-digital, printed out version of the petition came to. In the space between that conversation with the mayor and today, it grew to over 15,000 signatures. We hear you!
We want the statue removed and we want racial justice in the Town of Babylon and on Long Island. But the town is not listening. They continue to embarrass us and misrepresent us with the continued glorification of the white supremacist Robert Moses. We have to push more until our voices are heard.
However, we want this movement to continue to be organic and, most importantly, democratic. If we want to build more democracy in our town, we should start by embracing radical democracy in our org. That's why, at the end of this e-mail you'll find a link to a Google Forms questionnaire. If you want to get involved and you have passion and ideas on where to take this movement next, please fill it out. Thank you! Keep fighting!
